Meet your coach

Hey, I'm Kush.

I believe the best coaching is friendly, clear and immediately useful. You should understand not only what to change, but why it will improve your game.

Coaching pickleball is my passion. I am a Pickleball England Level 1 coach and League Captain at Harrow Pickleball Club, and I have helped introduce more than 500 players to the game. I coach everyone from complete beginners to experienced players looking for smarter shot selection, better positioning and stronger doubles play.

I am also a qualified assessor with the CAVA qualification and hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training. That teaching background shapes every session: clear explanations, purposeful practice and feedback that is easy to understand and apply.

Tried, tested & recommended

My top paddle picks.

The right paddle depends on how you play. These are my current top three recommendations, with an outstanding-value alternative for recreational players.

01Top pick

Honolulu J2CR

My current number-one recommendation: a lively hybrid paddle that blends serious power and pop with a forgiving sweet spot and confident control.

Ask if it suits your game
02Power + touch

11SIX24 Power 2 Ultré

A strong choice for attacking players who want explosive pace without giving up the softer, more predictable response needed for resets and dinks.

Ask if it suits your game
03Premium power

Selkirk LABS Project Boomstik

A premium power paddle with a stable, balanced feel, huge spin potential and a generous sweet spot in both widebody and elongated shapes.

Best-value alternative

Tried & tested · £80

Boomstik-style clone

A full-foam paddle that plays remarkably close to the genuine Boomstik for a fraction of the price. I have personally tested, dissected and compared its construction and performance, and it comes with a cover.

  • Excellent power, pop and spin potential
  • Large, forgiving sweet spot
  • Outstanding value for recreational play

Please note: this clone is not sanctioned for tournament play and does not use Selkirk's InfinGrit surface.

Blog & paddle advice

Are Control Paddles Becoming a Thing of the Past?

Power paddles may dominate today's market — even my own top three picks are power paddles — but that doesn't mean control is dead. I look back at classics such as the Double Black Diamond, Mach 2 Forza, Ruby and original Hyperion, and explain why the Honolulu J2FC+ is my modern pick for control-minded players.

Good to know

Questions before you step on court?

If your question is not here, send a quick enquiry and I will come back to you directly.

01I have never played before — is this for me?

Absolutely. Beginner sessions cover the rules, scoring, grip, core shots and where to stand. The aim is to get you playing and enjoying real points as quickly as possible.

02Do you coach experienced players?

Yes. Sessions can focus on technique, shot selection, transition play, doubles positioning, movement and match strategy for players who want to move beyond the 3.0–3.5 level.

03Where do sessions take place?

Coaching is available across Harrow, Three Rivers and surrounding parts of Hertfordshire. Regular venues include William Penn Leisure Centre in Rickmansworth, central Watford or Woodside Leisure Centre in Watford, and Batchwood Sports Centre in St Albans. Other nearby locations can also be considered by arrangement.

04Can I train with a friend or my doubles partner?

Yes. Group coaching is ideal for friends and doubles partners because we can build communication, positioning and decision-making into the drills.

05How does the block-booking discount work?

Book four or more lessons together and receive 20% off the coaching price. It is a great option if you want a structured improvement plan and time to embed each change.

06What happens after my lesson?

You receive free recap resources that highlight what we discussed and provide useful reminders for practice, so the learning can continue after we leave the court.
